We Hate To Run

Jason Hope made a half a million dollar donation to the SENS Foundation. The SENS Foundation is an organization that carries out intensive research on the aging process, the effects of aging on the body and strives to develop anti-aging mechanisms that will help reduce these effects on the human body. Research has proven that aging results in deterioration of the body and its organs causing hormone-secreting organs to slow down hence leading to hormonal imbalance. The imbalance, in turn, results in mental illnesses like depression and anxiety and other disorders such as Alzheimer’s. Jason Hope is enthusiastic about the approach that the SENS Foundation is taking towards preventing these illnesses before they kick in. Jason is specifically excited to support a course that would help reduce the cases of Alzheimer’s heart and lung disease.

SENS is just one of the many biotechnology-related companies that Jason Hope supports financially and morally.

When it comes to prostate cancer, there are many misconceptions about signs and symptoms, says Dr. David Samadi. For the majority of patients symptoms go unnoticed. But there are risk factors, and if you happen to fall into that category, it’s smart to have a checkup with a urologist.

As for risk factors, Dr. Samadi says family history, like having a close relative, father, uncle or brother, who has or has had this tumor, produces a greater risk of getting sick, so it is good that checks are made starting from 40- 45 years. Also, obesity, rising levels of male hormones, exposure to environmental pollutants, smoking, and a diet rich in processed foods and sugars are all potential factors for developing prostate cancer.

Dr. Samadi says symptoms include difficulty urinating, and frequent urination, especially at night. Additionally, blood in the urine or in semen, erectile dysfunction, painful ejaculation, and pain in the back, hips or pelvis.

Caring For Prostate Cancer

Many types of treatment for prostate cancer are available today. When it comes to the most active therapy, the choice often falls on surgery, which Dr. David Samadi is a renown expert. He developed the Samadi Modified Advanced Robotic Technique (SMART Technique), which performs the minimally invasive robot assisted procedure, resulting in quicker patient recovery. The radical prostatectomy, namely the removal of the entire prostate gland and lymph nodes of the region near the tumor, is considered a curative intervention where the disease is confined to the prostate.

Foods To Diminish Risks

Dr. Samadi has always been an advocate for healthy nutrition. Experts say garlic, tomatoes and other vegetables containing lycopene, and fibers from whole grains and legumes should be present in every diet to diminish the risk of cancer. Little to no sugars and processed foods that include animal fat can also prevent about 45 percent of cancerous tumors. Experts estimate more than 45 percent of all cancers can be prevented with a healthy diet.

Because of his contributions to urologic diseases, and specifically prostate cancer, Dr. David Samadi has received national recognition. Besides his SMART surgery technique, Dr. Samadi has authored several peer-reviewed papers and medical studies, and is a medical correspondent for Fox News, and the AM radio show. He also has a Sunday afternoon show, “Sunday Housecall,” which airs at 12:30pm

In addition to his expert care and committment to his patients, Dr. Samadi spends a considerable amount of time researching, updating his blog, and offering advice and answering questions.
